Birthday Wishes

Birthdays are such an interesting concept to me. If you think about it – it’s theoretically a much more personal celebration of being alive and making it to another full year than anything else. But over the thousands of years (or maybe millions – who knows if cavemen celebrated too?) it’s become more of a day when everyone celebrates YOU. You are the princess (or prince) of the day and it’s a day when people go out of their way to show you love, and tell you – ‘Hey, you. Happy birthday, have a really, wonderfully happy day. And you know what, I’m going to try to do something so this happens too.’ It’s unnecessary for others to really care that much if it’s YOUR birthday. I mean – big deal, you were born on this day so many years ago. Everyone has one of these days. But, no. It does matter, and people make sure you know that. And it doesn’t stop at just celebrating your birth anniversary. You’re celebrated for who you are, and what you are, and what you’ve done. It also seems to me, that over these thousands or millions of years, birthdays have evolved into PEOPLE celebrations. And, frankly, that’s a pretty cool thing.

That’s why, on this day , MY day of celebration, I’d like to thank each and every one of you for making my day so special. Even if I didn’t see you, or physically hear from you, just that wall post or text really, really made my day. This is the feeling I live for year after year, and this is the feeling that everyone should get to experience on THEIR day. So, let’s forget about how old we’re getting, and whether you have a birthday to ‘look forward to’ – birthdays aren’t about that. (Unless you’re turning 21 of course… ; )) They’re about YOU being showered with love. And the fact that everyone DOES get one of these days means we’re all on equal playing fields, and we should all get to feel like this on our one day. So, spread the love to others on their days and take it in on yours. You deserve it!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you guys!
